‘Affinity Collective represents the next generation of Australian classical superstars. Their performances are
celebrated not only for phenomenal musicianship, but also for giving audiences an inside experience of
classical chamber music.’ Play On Music
Founded in 2014, Affinity Collective has performed many concerts in Australia and Europe, often programming
lesser known composers alongside masterworks of European chamber music. Affinity has pioneered complete
cycles of string quartets by Britten, Panufnik, Janáček and Haas, and collaborated with Australian composers
and performers, including Brett Dean, Jack Symonds, Kristian Winther and Wilma Smith.
Affinity explores music’s ability to embrace differences and looks for affinities between different times and places.
An important aspect of their program has been donating proceeds to refugee support organisations in Sydney,
Hobart, and regional Victoria.
Among Affinity's achievements are winning first prize in the ANAM Chamber Music Competition; participation in
the International Musicians Seminar Prussia Cove, UK; and an Australia Council for the Arts Grant for a European
Tour and chamber music mentoring with Thomas Adés and the Doric, Kuss, Belcea, Brodsky and Noga Quartets.
Education and community engagement forms an important part of Affinity's activities.
